9.00 am - All children need to be in class ready to start the day

Medicines and inhalers:

If you child needs an inhaler, even on an occasional basis, please can you ensure that the school is kept up to date and that we have a specific one for them in school.  This must be sent via the office but will be stored in the class teachers locked cupboard for your child should they require it. Please can you also ensure that any medication that is to be kept in school is kept up to date.  Thank you for your co-operation

Infection Control:

The Health Protection Agency states that children who experience sickness and diarrhoea should be kept away from school for 48 hours following the last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea.

Road Safety Reminder:

  • Please do not park in the bus lane
  • Park away from the crossing point so that people crossing can see and cross safely
  • Reduce your speed around school
  • Ensure that children behave sensibly and safely on the pavements as they come to and leave school.

For the safety of everyone, please do not do 'U' turns.

Snow Closure

If it becomes necessary to close the school due to snow or bad weather, you will be informed via the school texting system. It will also be announced on heart radio.

Queries

If you have any queries then speak to the class teacher in the first instance. It the teacher is busy and there is a teaching assistant available then it might be possible to pass on information to the teaching assistant. If your querry is of a general nature then speak to the office staff.

School Website

If you require a paper copy of information on the school website then ask the staff in the school office.

Weather Conditions

In the event of bad ice/snow the Headteacher or a senior teacher will make an assessment of the paths and decide whether gritting is required and the priority gritting areas. Wiltshire’s general guidance is to ensure a path from the school boundary to the main entrance is gritted for pedestrian access. The official main entrance to the school is the ramp area in the small playground which is between Class 1 and the school hall.

To ensure the safety of all, we ask that parents and children walk in carefully and stay on the gritted pathway.

I would like to point out that as a school, we do not grit the school car park.

If we need to close the school because of the weather conditions, then the school will inform you via the school texting system and via Heart Radio.

School Security and Safety of Children

  • The school gate opens at 8:50am and the children go straight into their classroom to complete their early morning task. Until in the classroom, the children are the responsibility of their parents.
  • The school gate is locked at 9:05am. If your child/children arrive after that time, you will need to sign them in at the school office. You will be required to record in the late register the reason for their lateness. Arriving late at school is very disruptive to the other children and the class teacher and also mean that your child has missed out on some important messages and learning at the start of the school day.
  • Letters, reply slips and dinner money should be given to your child to hand into the class teacher. Dinner money should be put in an envelope with the order form and should have your child’s name and class on it. The school pays Cheeky Peas to undertake all administration related to school dinners.
  • The school office is manned between 8:30am and 3:15pm. There is an intercom system to the right of the door, please press bell for attention.
  • The school gate is unlocked at 3:10pm for you to collect your child at 3:15pm. Please arrive on time to collect your child as children easily get distressed when their parents are not there at the end of the school day. If, in an exceptional circumstance, you are going to be late then please telephone the school before 3:10pm. We will then be able to let your child know and reassure them that you are on your way
  • No child should leave the school grounds without their parents, unless they are a responsible Y6 and have the permission of their parents. If you wish your Y6 child to walk home on their own then please put this in writing to the school.
  • Before the start and at the end of the school day, parents are responsible for ensuring their child/children (including younger siblings) stay off the play structures. Children are expected to stay by their parents and not run around or play games, to prevent accidents and injury whilst on the school premises.

Children That Travel on the Bus

  • Chidlren coming to school on Wiltshire Transport will enter via the school office if pre-aranged or be dropped off in the school bus lane which is next to the school gate.
  • Bus children must be escorted to the door by the bus driver. The bus driver should ensure that all the children from his bus are safely in the school building before leaving.
  • At the end of the school day at 3:15pm, the bus children from class 1, wait in class 1 to be collected by Miss Hooper or another member of staff. The bus children from classes 2 and 3 wait by the picnic benches to be collected by Miss Hooper who then checks the bus register.
